We all know that a great way to reach new fans on Facebook is to get your current fans to share your content to their friends.
The problem is getting people to share what you have posted is not always easy.
Here is a simple way to encourage them to do just that, and to increase interaction over all.
Step 1 – Choose a Topical and/or Controversial Subject
It’s important to post about something that people care, or are worrying, about at the time of posting. This will vary greatly, but it’s important to make sure the subject you choose is:
- Related to your business, and
- Something that people are passionate about either way
See below for an example of this in action.
Step 2 – Post a Short “Yes/No” Question About Said Topic
You want to phrase your post as a question, making sure it is both short and can be answered with a “yes” or a “no”.
You then want to add the following to the post:
Share for Yes. Like for No.
Of course, you can mix these around and have Like for Yes and Share for No if you like – the order will completely depend on:
- Whether you want more Shares or more Likes and,
- What answer you think your fans will prefer
An Example
If you had a business that was targeting Real Estate agents you could ask a question about interest rate movements. Your post could be something like:
Interest Rate cut today? Like for No. Share for Yes
In this example I’m assuming that rates will drop and I want people to share the post, so I have encouraged people to Share if they also think (or hope) it will drop.
Notice how the question is very short (even though it’s grammatically incorrect), and it gives simple direction.
Ad-ed Exposure
You can also give your post a boost by using Facebook’s Promoted Post feature, gaining more exposure and thus driving more shares or likes. This will go a long way in getting you back in contact with your fans too.
If you try this, please let us know how it worked for you.
